简介：Was born in Ontario, California, and attended Upland High School. Parents divorced when she was 15. Was two-time California state champion in the high jump in her sophomore and junior year. In her senior year, after breaking her own state record at a qualifying meet she was sidelined one week before her final state championships with appendicitis.
